FR-01 Bus Route Islamabad: Stops & Timings

FR-01 is one of the Capital Development Authority’s feeder bus routes in Islamabad, and it is the route to know if you travel between the NUST area and Khanna Pul. According to CDA’s own timetable files, read in late October 2026, FR-01 runs between NUST Metro Station and Khanna Pul, giving commuters a direct link from the university and I-sector corridor to the busy Khanna Pul junction on Islamabad Expressway.

FR-01 Route: NUST Metro Station to Khanna Pul

The current CDA timetable lists FR-01 as running from NUST Metro Station to Khanna Pul in both directions. At NUST Metro Station you can change to the Red Line metro, which makes this feeder route useful for students and staff heading toward Faizabad, Rawalpindi or the airport side, and for Khanna Pul travellers heading into the city. An earlier published version of this route was listed as Sohan to NUST, so if an old timetable or blog still shows that version, trust the current CDA listing instead and check the stop-by-stop PDF before you travel.

FR-01 Timings: First Bus, Last Bus and Frequency

FR-01 is an hourly service, so planning ahead matters much more here than on the busy five-minute routes. The first trip leaves at around 6:00 am and the last trip leaves at around 10:00 pm, with about 17 trips a day in each direction. The end-to-end journey takes roughly 45 minutes, though traffic on IJP Road and around Faizabad can stretch that, especially in the evening rush.

Because buses come only once an hour, missing one costs you a full hour, so reach your stop at least five minutes early. CDA’s route table marks FR routes as Monday to Sunday services, which means FR-01 runs seven days a week, but always confirm the day’s timetable on CDA’s transit map page if you are travelling on a public holiday.

How to Check the Full FR-01 Stop List

CDA does not publish a simple stop list on its main page; instead, each route has a timetable PDF with every stop and trip time. Open CDA’s transit map page, find FR-01 in the route list, and open the forward or backward PDF for your direction of travel. The first column names each stop, and reading across gives you the arrival time for every trip of the day.

One thing to note before you board: CDA’s route page and timetable files do not print a fare, so no fare figure is quoted here. Ask the conductor when you board, and keep some change ready. If your journey continues beyond Khanna Pul toward Gulberg, the FRB-01 route passes through Khanna Pul on its way to Gulberg, which makes Khanna Pul a handy interchange point for that side of the city.
