Faisal Mosque stands on Shah Faisal Avenue in sector E-8, at the foot of the Margalla Hills, and it is one of the most visited landmarks in Islamabad. There is no Red Line metro station right outside the mosque, so the journey needs one easy change. The good news is that the route is simple once you know it: reach PIMS, the city’s main metro interchange, and then take the feeder bus that ends at Faisal Masjid.
Nearest Metro Station to Faisal Mosque
PIMS metro bus station is the nearest main metro station for Faisal Mosque, and it connects the Red, Blue and Green lines in one place. From Rawalpindi, take the Red Line towards Islamabad and get off at PIMS, and from the airport side, travel towards the city and change onto the Red Line to reach PIMS. PIMS is busy and well signposted, so ask staff at the station if you are unsure which exit or bus stop to use for the next leg.
From PIMS, the direct option is feeder route FR-03A, whose timetable file is titled PIMS Hospital to Faisal Masjid. It runs via F-8 Markaz, F-9 Park and Shaheen Chowk before reaching Faisal Masjid, so it is a straightforward ride with no extra change. One detail is worth knowing: CDA’s route list describes FR-03A differently, as PIMS to Saidpur Village every 20 minutes, while its own timetable file shows the Faisal Masjid run every 10 minutes, so check the timetable at the stop on the day you travel.
Faisal Mosque Bus Timings and Return Journey
Most Islamabad city feeder routes typically run from around 6:00 am, with the last trips leaving at around 10:00 pm, and FR routes are marked as Monday to Sunday services. For the return trip, simply catch FR-03A back towards PIMS from the Faisal Masjid stop, and from PIMS you can change onto the Red Line, Blue Line or Green Line for the rest of your journey. On weekends, route ST-01 from PIMS towards Daman-e-Koh also stops at Faisal Masjid, which gives visitors one more option on Saturdays and Sundays.
If you are short on time or travelling with family, a taxi or ride-hailing car from PIMS is a comfortable alternative for the last stretch to the mosque. Keep some small change ready and confirm the fare with the conductor before boarding, because CDA’s route page and timetable files list stops and times but do not print a fare. Reach the stop a few minutes early, allow extra time on busy days and prayer times, and you will find Faisal Mosque an easy, affordable trip by metro bus.
