Chairman Message

Capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, is home to over a million people. With rapid urbanization there was a need for improved and efficient public transport system that can lessen the load of traffic on the roads as well.
It is evident through research that quality urban transport service contributes to social inclusion, better employment opportunities, and urban regeneration by increasing people’s mobility.

The Government of Pakistan, with its dedication, commitment and in the best interest of public Initiated Capital Mass Transit Authority (CMTA) under the supervision of Capital Development Authority (CDA). CMTA aims to revamp the existing transport system of the city, in fact the twin cities, and replace old, orthodox, unsafe transport system with state-of-the-art Bus Rapid Transit System.

The project is a major undertaking not just in the development of the physical infrastructure of the city but as a catalyst for urban regeneration and economic growth. This public transport system is designed to improve capacity and reliability relative to a conventional bus system which is feeble enough to bear the load.

As a Chairman of Capital Development Authority (CDA), I believe that Capital Mass Transit Authority (CMTA) will change not only the face but also the future of Islamabad and its transportation infrastructure.
