If you live in PWD and want a cheap, comfortable ride without your own car, the green electric bus is the service to know. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) runs an electric shuttle from Gulberg Terminal to Media Town that passes right through PWD and Pakistan Town, giving residents of this busy Expressway corridor a direct public transport link.
Where the Green Bus PWD Route Runs
The confirmed route runs from Gulberg Terminal, through PWD and Pakistan Town, and ends at Media Town. It was launched on 15 July 2025, after the CDA chairman approved electric bus operations for Media Town, Pakistan Town and PWD residents, and it mainly serves daily commuters, students and journalists living in these housing societies.
PWD sits on the Islamabad Expressway corridor, so the shuttle connects naturally with the wider metro network. From the Gulberg end, passengers can join the Blue Line, which runs between PIMS and Gulberg Interchange, while the Expressway corridor also carries the Khanna Pul to Rawat feeder service for trips further south.
Timings and Fare
At launch, the Gulberg to Media Town shuttle ran every 30 minutes. Most CDA feeder buses operate from around 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, so PWD passengers can plan morning and evening trips within this window, though exact first and last departures for this shuttle can vary, so it is wise to reach the stop a few minutes early.
The fare is a flat Rs 50 per trip, the standard rate across CDA’s electric feeder buses. You pay the same amount whether you travel one stop or the full route to Media Town, which makes daily budgeting simple for regular commuters.
Tips for PWD Passengers
Keep in mind that CDA has said a complete route map and any future changes for this shuttle will be shared officially, so the confirmed stops remain Gulberg Terminal, PWD, Pakistan Town and Media Town. If you need to reach central Islamabad, ride to Gulberg and switch to the Blue Line towards PIMS, from where the Red, Orange and Green lines open up the rest of the twin cities.
For PWD residents, this green bus is one of the simplest ways to travel the Expressway corridor without traffic stress or parking worries. It is quiet, air-conditioned and affordable, and as CDA expands its electric fleet, services on this corridor are only expected to improve.
