Metro Bus Live Tracking Islamabad: How to Track Your Bus
Gone are the days of waiting at a bus stop guessing when the next metro bus will arrive. Islamabad commuters can now track metro and electric buses in real time, right on their phones. The official CDA Metro App, integrated with Google Maps, shows live bus locations and estimated arrival times. Whether you ride the Red, Orange, Green or Blue Line, tracking your bus takes just a few taps.
Track Buses Live with the CDA Metro App
The CDA Metro App is the official public transport app by the Capital Development Authority. It is free to download from both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store, and it has already crossed 100,000 installs. According to CDA, the app offers trip planning, route maps, stop details and real-time bus location tracking in one place.
In August 2025, CDA launched live tracking through the app’s integration with Google Maps. The system covers the full metro bus network — Red, Orange, Green and Blue Lines — along with the electric bus feeder routes across the city. You can check live bus positions, find nearby stops, view schedules and plan your journey in seconds.
How to Check Live Arrivals Step by Step
Download the CDA Metro App and allow location access when asked. Search for your route or simply tap your nearest stop on the map. The app displays live bus locations with estimated arrival and departure times. Pick the bus heading toward your destination and reach the stop just in time. That simple — no more long, uncertain waits.
Other Ways to Track Your Bus
The eTransit Punjab app, developed by the Punjab Information Technology Board for the Punjab Mass Transit Authority, also provides real-time transit information. It gives live updates on arrival and departure times, plus alerts about delays, disruptions and schedule changes. It is a useful second option for the Red Line and other PMA-operated services.
One small note: GPS tracking can occasionally lag by a few minutes, especially during peak hours, so reach your stop a little early. Keep your phone’s location switched on for the most accurate results. With live tracking, the Islamabad metro is now one of the easiest public transport systems to use in Pakistan.
