Catching the Green Line in Islamabad and wondering when the first bus rolls out — or when the last one heads home? It’s the question every commuter asks first. The good news is that the Green Line runs on a simple, fixed daily window between Bhara Kahu and PIMS, so once you know it, planning your trip becomes effortless.
The first Green Line bus departs at 6:00 AM from both ends of the route, and the last bus leaves at 10:00 PM. During the morning and evening rush hours, buses arrive roughly every 5 to 10 minutes, so you’re rarely standing on the platform for long.
Green Line Route and Stations
The Green Line covers around 15 kilometres with 8 stations: Bhara Kahu, Satra Meel, Quaid-e-Azam University, Daman-e-Koh, Faisal Mosque, F-8 Sector, G-8 Sector, and PIMS. End to end, the full trip takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
The fare is a flat Rs 30 no matter how far you ride. You can buy a token at the station or tap your metro card — either way, it’s one of the cheapest rides you’ll find in the capital.
Making the Most of Your Commute
If you travel daily, a metro card is worth getting — it saves you the token queue at busy stations like Faisal Mosque and PIMS. And if your timings are flexible, try to travel outside the 8–9 AM and 5–6 PM rush, when buses fill up fast.
On weekends and public holidays, the Green Line keeps the same 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM schedule, though buses may run slightly less often. Either way, give yourself a small buffer before the 10:00 PM cut-off so you never miss the last bus home. In the rare case of a closure or diversion, check the CDA’s latest announcement before heading out.
